St Andrews Church
This sensitively designed scheme carefully considers the buildings 900 years of history in this unique setting.
St Andrews Church dates back to the medieval period with the earliest part of the building originating from the 12 Century. This wonderful church has undergone numerous changes over the years which includes the addition of the tower and north aisle in the 15 Century as well as Victorian additions and alterations carried out more recently. TDA were approached to explore whether it would be feasible to provide refreshment and toilet facilities within the church itself. The building does not currently have these facilities requiring a trip up to the community hall when required. After working closely with Planning Service, Conservation and Design as well as our client and representatives from the Parish, TDA were able to obtain planning permission for a new single storey entrance porch with integrated toilet and internal kitchen facilities. Works will commence in 2024 on this sensitive project where the detailed execution of these works will be carefully prepared and monitored by this Practice. The new porch and internal alterations will be carried out using high quality materials with careful consideration to the existing fabric and finishes of this historical building.
